Apple has hit a high note on music streaming.
Apple Music took the top spot for customer satisfaction in J. D. Power's inaugural study of paid streaming music services.
Apple's streaming service, which hit 17 million subscribers in September, ranked particularly well in performance and reliability, content, and ease of use, J.D. Power said. In second place was Rhapsody, followed by Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, Amazon Prime Music and Google Play Music.
Among its key findings, J. D. Power said satisfaction was highest among "fully engaged customers," that is people who shared and followed playlists with friends. The survey also found that exclusive content and availability on peripheral devices, like smartwatches or smart home speakers, played a big role in customer satisfaction.
The survey, released Wednesday, measured satisfaction among customers who used a subscription streaming music service in the last six months. It was based on six factors: performance and reliability, ease of use, cost of service, content, communication and customer service.
