Apple may launch new Beats headphones alongside the iPhone 7

An invitation to Apple's upcoming event reportedly mentions that new Beats headphones will be unveiled the same day.

We already expect to see new iPhones and an upgrade to Apple Watch at the tech giant's event next week, but now it looks like we might also get a new pair of Beats headphones.

An email reportedly sent to French tech site iGeneration by the public relations team at Beats included an invitation to Apple's event on September 7 and said new Beats by Dre products would be unveiled the same day, according to 9to5Mac.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Rumors that Apple's upcoming iPhone 7 will ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack are already fueling a surge of wireless headphones. Beats, which Apple bought in 2014 for $3.2 billion, currently offers a handful of wireless headphones and earpods.

Could we be getting an addition to that lineup? We'll just have to wait and see on September 7.
