Apple kicks off upgrade program

Apple Computer has launched another upgrade program for owners of its problem-plagued PowerBook 190 and PowerBook 5300 notebook computers. For $1,599, owners of those laptops can upgrade to Apple's recently discontinued G3 PowerBook with a 400MHz G3 processor, 64MB of memory, a 10GB hard drive, DVD-ROM drive and a 14-inch screen. Apple has posted the full details of the program on its Web site. Details of problems related to the 5300 and 190 can be found on Apple's site as well.
