Apple had a map mishap? Nokia must mock it

You can get giddy when thousands of people retweet one of your clever (or even not so clever) quips.

The tweeters at (Micro)Nokia were no doubt renegotiating their compensation packages after a September 10 tweet mocking Apple's colorful iPhone 5C received more than 40,000 retweets.

They surely couldn't wait for another chance to sling rocks at the Apple Goliath.

Thankfully on Wednesday, a report emerged that Apple maps had led drivers onto a taxiway at Fairbanks International Airport in Alaska.

"What joy," thought Nokia's tweeters. "We must mock this. Anyone have any ideas?"

I wonder how many seconds it took before someone suggested: "I know, let's tweet: 'There's an app for that."

So they did, together with a picture of a Nokia phone with a very fine map app displayed.

Thus far, the tweet hasn't garnered quite the appeal of the successful one.

Indeed, some tweeters have responded with something akin to annoyance.

For example, Flavio Coimbra offered: "@nokia_uk This is cool and all but as a nokia and ms products user it would be cool if you focused more on your own rather than making fun."

Rory Zolanski was more cutting: "@nokia_uk Pity theres still no app for snapchat!!!"

Well, indeed. The youth of today would rather send confidential naked photos than know where they're going.

It seems that Nokia will continue to pursue this aggressive stance toward Cupertino.

I fear, though, that if its tweeters don't garner at least 20,000 retweets with this latest wheeze, they might be in trouble. Or worse, their tweeting duties might be handed over to the tweeters in Redmond.

At the time of writing, the tweet has garnered a mere 104 retweets.

If it doesn't get to 10,000 by the end of Thursday, I fear that there might be a slap for that.
