Apple is selling refurbished iPhone X models -- but they're still hard to nab
Unlocked models started at $769 for 64GB of storage, down from the original $999 price. But the iPhones aren't constantly in stock.
The popular iPhone X has made an appearance in Apple's online store -- if you want a cheaper, refurbished model.
If you want a cheap iPhone X, you've got to be quick. Apple on Monday started offering refurbished models of its popular smartphone from 2017 in its online store (as spotted by MacRumors). The initial devices sold out quickly Monday morning PT, but Apple made more available in the afternoon.
MacRumors noted early Monday that unlocked models in space gray and silver with 64GB and 256GB of storage were available for $769 and $899, respectively, in the US. Apple sold the models, when new, for $999 for 64GB and $1,149 for 256GB.
As of 1 p.m. PT, 64GB models in space gray and silver were available, as were 256GB silver and space gray versions.
Apple didn't immediately have information about when more refurbished models would be available.

Monday marked the first time Apple started selling refurbished versions of the iPhone X. But other sites have long offered refurbished and used models of the iPhone X. Gazelle, for instance, currently offers the iPhone X in various colors, storage sizes and carrier models. A 64GB version for AT&T, for instance, costs $669.
This isn't the first time Apple has brought back popular, discontinued iPhones in its refurbished store. Last week, Apple's smaller iPhone SE reappeared in the company's clearance aisle for $249. That's for the 32GB version of the now-discontinued phone, while the 128GB version will cost you $299 -- both of which are $100 off the original price. While the phones are being sold through Apple's clearance channel, they're new in the box, not refurbs.
