Apple App Store has record breaking November

The App Store saw its highest monthly sales ever, tweets Apple exec Phil Schiller.

Last month was a "record breaker" for Apple.

The tech giant's App Store saw its highest monthly sales ever in November, tweeted Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, on Wednesday.

While Schiller didn't give specifics, data from research firm Kantar Worldpanel ComTech shows Apple's iOS software gaining ground in the smartphone market, which could help boost App Store sales. In the US, iOS grew seven percent year over year, grabbing 40.5 percent of smartphone sales for the three months ending October 2016, according to Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.

App store sales may also see a December boost thanks to the $10 iOS game Super Mario Run, Nintendo's highly anticipated mobile game set to be released December 15.
