Apple addresses Mail.app crashing when flagging Junk mail; iDVD 4 burning problems

CNET staff

Apple has addressed two topics recently appearing on MacFixIt in the form of Knowledge Base articles.

Apple addresses Mail.app crashing when flagging Junk mail Article #25727, "Mac OS X 10.3: Mail quits when you click Junk Mail" addresses an issue where Panther's Mail application crashes when attempting to flag certain messages as junk. We mentioned in several previous reports that one of the culprits seems to be mail without a subject.

Our previous article on the issue includes a host of workarounds, including resetting the Junk Mail filter, creating a new user account, moving messages one at a time, and more.

The Apple Knowledge Base article only mentions resetting the Junk mail filter as a possible solution.

iDVD 4 burning problemsArticle #93665 addresses the issue where iDVD 4 may not successfully burn a disc on dual processor Power Mac G5 computers if Best Performance is selected in iDVD preferences.

As we noted yesterday, and as Apple states in the new Knowledge Base article, updating to iDVD 4.0.1 resolves the issue.

The article also states "After you have updated to iDVD 4.0.1, it may be necessary to delete encoded assets from your iDVD 4 project."
