Welcome to CNET Australia's App of the Day, where you can see some of the coolest, silliest and most useful apps in action.

If you're an artist, really, the iPad's your oyster. One of the best apps for digital painting on the App Store is SketchBook Pro by Autodesk. It has a huge number of brushes and effects, including pencil, paintbrush, airbrush, ink and chalk, and you can make them wide or thin or opaque or translucent; basically, if you want options, here they are. It does have a bit of learning curve — it took me a little while to find the blur tool, for instance — but I kinda liked that, because it meant I actually went exploring to find out what each tool does. You'll be producing Botticelli-style masterpieces in no time. Or not. But you'll have fun trying!
