Put on your black hat; it's time to get hacking and steal data — from the safety of a mobile game, of course.

Welcome to CNET Australia's App of the Day, where you can see some of the coolest, silliest and most useful apps in action.

You're a courageous hacker. Your mission is to sneak around in secure networks and steal the data contained therein. Node.Hack takes place in a grid interface, and you navigate from node to node to collect information. But it's not that simple — security bots patrol the areas, and stationary traps make some nodes impassable. To make it even more exciting, once you've collected the final data packet, a timer will begin counting down; you need to get to the exit before it runs out. It's quite an unusual interface, but it works, and the result is a tense and riveting game.
