Welcome to CNET Australia's App of the Day, where you can see some of the coolest, silliest and most useful apps in action.

In February, Encyclopaedia Britannica announced the end of an era — the retirement of its printed encyclopedia sets. In April, it launched a new product: Encyclopaedia Britannica for iOS. It's free to download, and you get limited access to the information contained therein; for full access, Encyclopaedia Britannica is asking just AU$14.99 for a year's subscription. Considering how much a full set of Encyclopaedia Britannica used to cost in printed form — and to someone who would spend hours poring over the pages of her parents' encyclopedia set — that price is an absolute score.
