Welcome to CNET Australia's App of the Day, where you can see some of the coolest, silliest and most useful apps in action.

BeTheChef is a cooking app with a difference. You select an ingredient, and the app will show you additional groupings of three complementary ingredients to inspire your culinary adventures; for example, selecting pork, you can then choose from groupings, such as soy sauce, ginger and asparagus. You can then figure it out on your own, or view a recipe using those ingredients and add recipes to your favourites box for later repeat cooking. Apparently, you can also add your own recipes, but we couldn't figure out how to do that; nevertheless, it's a cooking experience that puts the fun into your time in the kitchen, and encourages you to get creative rather than follow recipes by rote. We can get behind that.
