AOL Time Warner on Thursday appointed Michael Lynton, the president of its America Online division's international arm, to head the media giant's international efforts. Lynton, 42, will spearhead AOL Time Warner's international growth across the company's many divisions. Lynton will continue to oversee the AOL division's international unit and will report to Robert Pittman, AOL Time Warner's co-chief operating officer.
The AOL unit has undergone an overhaul of its executive ranks over the past few months. Its previous CEO, Barry Schuler, stepped down in April and was replaced by Pittman. Later that month, AOL named Jimmy de Castro to oversee operations for its flagship AOL service. AOL later named Bob Sherman as its head of sales, replacing Bob Friedman.
