AOL Time Warner attorney resigns

Jonathan Schwartz, the attorney hired by AOL Time Warner to help it navigate through some federal inquiries into its accounting practices, is quitting in a few weeks to pursue other opportunities, an AOL representative said. Schwartz, a former federal prosecutor, joined AOL in August as the Securities and Exchange Commission was stepping up an investigation into AOL's accounting practices related to its online advertising earnings.

A person familiar with the situation said Schwartz is leaving to take a position in the legal department of Cablevision Systems, which, according to some published reports, also may be facing a federal investigation into its accounting practices.
