America Online said it will participate in a statewide initiative to provide school systems throughout Mississippi with online learning services for K-12 students. The announcement, unveiled by Mississippi Governor Ronnie Musgrove, will allow teachers to provide students with e-mail and instant-messaging capabilities, along with educational resources for their classrooms.

For America Online, the initiative is part of the company's AOL@School project, which offers public schools Internet services to aid in education.
