Angry Birds gets iPhone update ahead of Nintendo 3DS debut this year
Angry Birds has a stack of new levels in its iPhone version, with a Super Bowl ad unlocking access to a secret one. Meanwhile, developer Rovio is bringing the game to Nintendo 3DS and Wii this year.

Smashing news: the latest update to the game adds 15 new levels to play, along with a 16th secret level that can only be unlocked with a clue contained in a TV ad shown during the Super Bowl last night. Meanwhile, developer Rovio is bringing the feathery franchise to Nintendo's 3DS and Wii later this year, it announced.
The iOS update is called Ham 'Em High and is available now on Apple's App Store. Rovio says the new levels are "all crazier than popcorn on a hot stove", and promises a mysterious "Golden Egg that is as mad as a bag of hammers". Android owners are also getting the Ham 'Em High update.
The Super Bowl ad was for the upcoming movie Rio, which is getting its own Angry Birds spin-off game. The game clue is towards the end of the advert: watch closely when the monkey gets pecked and falls to the ground, is all we're saying.
Separately, Rovio has confirmed its plans to take Angry Birds to Nintendo's 3DS and Wii, via tweets (naturally!) in response to questions from a fan, and then followed up by the 3DS Focus blog.
"Wii and 3DS later in the year," claimed Rovio's first tweet, before the developer clarified that the games will be digital rather than physical releases. "We prefer downloads and digital distribution on all platforms, it's green like the pigs."
Finally, Rovio tweeted that "we would bring all three current Angry Birds games over" -- referring to the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and the new Rio spin-off. There's no news on how (or whether) the 3DS versions of these games will make use of the handheld's 3D screen, or indeed the gesture controls of the Wii's Wiimote.
