Amazon is launching a new comics imprint, and has already nabbed a huge name in geek culture.

The company on Tuesday announced the launch of Jet City Comics, a new imprint designed to focus on comics and graphic novels. To kick things off, Jet City announced that in 2013, it'll publish the comic adaptation of George R.R. Martin's short story "Meathouse Man." The imprint will also re-release "The Hedge Knight" by Ben Avery and Mike S. Miller. "The Hedge Knight" is notable for telling the prequel story to Martin's epic fantasy series, "A Song of Ice and Fire."

That series quickly put Martin on the map among fantasy novel lovers, but the television show based on it, "Game of Thrones," has thrust Martin into the mainstream spotlight. That Amazon has partnered with him on Jet City Comics is a good start for the imprint.

According to Amazon, "Meathouse Man" will be available as a single-issue in digital format in October. "The Hedge Knight" will hit store shelves in November as both print and digital. A sequel to "The Hedge Knight," "The Sworn Sword," will be available in early 2014.

For those who can't wait to see what Jet City offers up, the company has released the first comic from "The Foreworld Saga" series, "Symposium #1."
