Amazon in new points program

Amazon will allow users of rewards management portal Points.com to swap rewards-program points for merchandise, gift certificates.

Rewards management portal Points.com on Wednesday announced a deal with Amazon.com to let consumers redeem their reward miles and points for merchandise sold on Amazon. As part of the new arrangement, Points.com members will be able to swap their miles or points for Amazon.com gift certificates, the companies said. Points.com allows its members to consolidate and track their accounts, shift miles and points from one program to another and exchange them for merchandise and gift certificates.

Operated by Toronto-based Points International, the Points.com Web site will offer consumers who sign up beginning Thursday a bonus in their favorite reward program. These customers will also be entitled to enter a contest whose 10 prizes include a $200 Amazon.com gift certificate. The contest will run through Nov. 30 for U.S. residents, it said.
