Amazon.com on Monday announced that it has acquired Shopbop.com to bolster its apparel and accessories offerings. The fashion site, while part of Amazon's online-apparel store, will continue to operate as a standalone site.

Shopbop is an online retailer of women's apparel, shoes and accessories, carrying such lines as Marc Jacobs and Juicy Couture. The company, based in Madison, Wis., will continue to operate from its current location. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
