Alpharel offers a little Wisdom

Alpharel ships its online document management system, which works with Web browsers to let users retrieve documents stored on the Internet and corporate intranets.

Alpharel (AREL) today started shipping Wisdom, its new online document management system.

The software works with standard Web browsers to let users retrieve documents stored on the Internet and corporate intranets. Alpharel's targeted image extraction technology allows users high-speed access to documents and arranges them in an easy to retrieve "hit list."

The client-server tools are designed to let companies extend the central networks for access by satellite offices and customers and allows them to use custom interfaces to provide security.

The San Diego, California-based developer of database management systems for manufacturing, banking, and other industries said the system will work with a variety of Microsoft desktop software products and Adobe systems. Documents in pixel format are displayed directly by the company's BrowserView or with a local viewer.

Pricing for the Wisdom management system was not announced.

Meanwhile, the company said it is awaiting shareholder approval to change its name from "Alpharel Incorporated" to "Altris Software Incorporated."
