AirTouch tries to do it all
AirTouch unveils an all-in-one package of hardware and software that gives mobile computer users wireless access to the Internet or office networks.
The Wireless Office box includes a data-capable cell phone, 28.8-kbps PC Card fax modem, connector cables, and software, including FaxWorks Data 3.0 for Windows.
In conjunction with the announcement, AirTouch rolled out their Modem Link Service, which the company says provides more reliable and higher-speed connections between cellular and land-based modems with a proprietary technology in AirTouch's network.
Users can now connect to data networks with one special prefix used by many cellular service providers nationwide with no access fees, other than regular air-time rates and long distance charges, according to AirTouch.
AirTouch is selling the wireless cellular solution for $299 in the Southern California area.
