Airbnb won't let landlords profit off pandemic evictions

Airbnb is banning landlords from listing any property where a tenant was evicted for failing to pay rent, the short-term-rental company said Tuesday. The policy is designed to stop landlords from profiting off its services as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's moratorium on evictions expires this month, and will stay in effect until at least the end of the year.
It comes as cities prepare for a possible spike in evictions after the moratorium ends, the Washington Post noted.
"By working with cities to prevent landlords from using our marketplace to profit from removing a vulnerable long-term tenant from their home based on non-payment of rent, we believe we can send a strong message that will help keep people in their homes at this critical time," Airbnb said in a blog post.
