Administrative errors plague Web sites

The leading problem for Web sites is administrative errors, according to David Willis of research firm Meta Group. Willis said 59 percent of the cost of managing a site is people-related. In this ZDNet Videocast, Willis tells Editor in Chief Dan Farber there is a trend toward managed hosting services, as businesses look to cut costs, eliminate downtime and refocus internal resources.

Managed hosting providers use a higher degree of automation to deal with issues such as security vulnerabilities and provide higher skill levels and sophistication. Choosing a services model and selecting the right company requires a well-thought out plan.
