2940U2W update allows Macs to boot from drive Adaptec has released a beta update (2940U2W Flash Utility 1.1b1 and PowerDomain Control 4.0) "that will allow Apple's latest 'blue and white' G3 systems to boot off of devices attached to the 2940U2W. The beta will work on all PCI-based Mac systems."

SCSIProbe 5.1 is released Adaptec has also released SCSIProbe 5.1. It "now includes a preference feature that allows automatic mounting of SCSI storage volumes at startup." You can also download SCSIProbe from MacFixIt's Download Library.

Jim Deer and Jason Kessel both reported that ATM would not load after installing SCSIProbe 5.1, until they disabled SCSIProbe's "Mount SCSI Volumes During Startup" option. As you might suspect, and as Richard Hardy confirms, moving SCSIProbe to load after ATM resolves this conflict.

[3940UW card Earlier today, we mistakenly posted that a new update was out for the 3940UWcard. We had our years confused; sorry. The problem with this card and the new G3/BW Macs, as reported last time, thus appears to remain.]
