As of today PlayStation 4 owners will be able to access iview, the ABC's catch-up and TV on demand service, directly from their console.

The app will join SBS On Demand, Foxtel Play, Quickflix and -- as of today -- Plus7.

Back in 2009, ABC iview launched on the PlayStation 3 and PS3 owners will find their iview app upgraded to the latest version 'in the coming weeks'. In a media statement, Rebecca Heap, ABC Head of TV Strategy and Digital Products said:

In 2014 ABC iview was the number one internet TV service in Australia with more than 20 million plays per month. We are delighted to be launching ABC iview on PS4 and will continue to be the home of Australian stories for our audience on all their screens with the best user experience.

ABC had announced its intention to get iview on the Xbox One back in November, but there is still no timeline on when the app will be available.

The ABC also announced that it will be producing a "pocket edition" of its gaming show Good Game, exclusively for iview. The five minute show will be available daily and have a focus on up-to-the-minute gaming news.

ABC iview is the most-used catch-up TV service in Australia, with a recent audit boasting a 29 percent year-on-year increase in weekly program plays. The service recently unveiled its Binge on the Best special programming for Christmas: 14 complete Australian comedy series, including Upper Middle Bogan and the unmissable Frontline, available for the summer months.
