£1,000 for LG's watch phone on Orange?

LG's watch phone will cost £1,000 in the UK when it's released later this year exclusively with Orange, according to a cheeky report on a UK mobile blog

Compared to the £5,000 Motorola wants for its latest mobile, £1,000 for LG's GD910 watch phone doesn't seem so bad does it? Yes of course it does, you impertinent clay-brained wagtail.

Mind you, Orange doesn't think so. According to Mobile Today, where the rumour of the watch's £1,000 UK price tag first surfaced, l'Orange has pegged a grand as a suitable price for the handset -- although 'handset' is a somewhat erroneous description, considering it lives on the wrist.

We saw the hilariously chunky LG 'wristset' first back at CES, but we fingered it more recently at Mobile World Congress. It'll be hitting the UK later this year, complete with HSDPA video calling, stereo Bluetooth, a text-to-speech function for reading text messages out loud, and a 36mm (1.4-inch) touchscreen.

We contacted Orange for comment, but a spokesperson has yet to respond.

So for now, dearest of readers, the question is: would you pay £1,000 for the phone-that-is-also-a-watch?
