After a demo of Pokemon Go for Apple Watch, Apple confirmed suspicions of second-generation hardware for what is the most popular smartwatch around today.

This new watch is called the Apple Watch Series 2, and it boasts some significant upgrades, such as water resistance up to 50 meters over the previous model's splash resistance. It also comes with a faster dual-core CPU, a GPU with twice the graphics performance, a display which is twice as bright -- 1000 nits -- and runs apps at 60 frames per second and built-in GPS.

Pricing

This time around, the Apple Watch comes in an even wider array of styles. Like the original, there are aluminum and stainless steel models. But this year, Apple added a "pearl-like" Ceramic, which is 4 times harder than the stainless steel model (it's also a lot more expensive). There are also more Hermés bands to choose from.

An unexpected twist was the announcement of the Apple Watch Nike+, geared towards runners. it comes in four colors, all of which are shades of gray and green.

The new Apple Watch Series 2 starts at $369 for the 38mm model and $399 for the 42mm model. The new, all-white Ceramic model is $1249 for the 38mm model and $1299 for the 42mm model.

As for the Series 1, it's getting an upgraded CPU, but the starting price will drop to $269.

Pricing for the Apple Watch Nike+ was not mentioned.
