Open impossible plastic packaging with this kitchen tool

Get rid of plastic force fields with this simple trick.

Cut the frustration, and the package, with your can opener.

Alina Bradford

Headphones, phone cases, computer mice and other accessories tend to come in clear plastic packaging that is almost impossible to open. It's thick, hard and can't be torn by even the strongest fingers. Cutting the plastic with scissors can get it open, but that sawing motion will only dull your scissors.

The next best thing after a utility knife (or X-Acto knife) is to use the cutting wheel of a manual can opener along the seam of the plastic packaging.

Clamp down on the can opener and turn the knob like you would to open a can. The can opener will cut open the packaging easily.
