Now, you can run your business from your phone. That might be overstating it a tad, but you can create and manage online ads from your phone with Google's new AdWords Express app for iOS or for Android.
The process of creating an ad requires nothing more of you than following a simple, six-step process. Follow me as I almost create an ad using the iPhone app.
Step 1: Create a profile for your business
Enter the name of your business and its Web site and, optionally, an address and phone number. You can create multiple profiles for your various enterprises, should you own or operate various enterprises.
Step 2: Select your audience
Enter locations and see them highlighted on the map, and then below the map enter the product or service you offer.
Step 3: Create your ad
Add a headline and a couple lines of text and fine-tune the URL for the ad. You can see previews of what your ad will look like for both mobile and Google search.
Step 4: Set your budget
Adjust the slider to set the daily amount you want to spend on the ad. The app helpfully offers a shaded area on the slider that shows the range a typical competitor spends.
Step 5: Review your ad
Check the previews again and review your budget and audience settings.
Step 6: Checkout
Pay the man.
I didn't follow through on the last step to create an ad, so I can't speak from experience, but according to the app's description, you can use the app to track the performance of your ads and edit them at any time.
