Normally if you'd want to get a price quote for a Uber ride, you'd need to have an account on its website and use it, or its app, to check the fare. If you don't want to sign up, you can use a tweet to check the fare prices via Twitter.
The Digital Inspiration blog has created a Twitter bot that will give quick price quotes between two destinations. To use it, send a tweet to @WhatTheFare and ask what the price is between two places. Here's the format you'll need to use:
@WhatTheFare taxi fare from [pick up location] to [drop-off location]
ex: @WhatTheFare taxi fare from TPA to Pier 60 Clearwater
This example asks about the fare from the Tampa airport to Pier 60, Clearwater -- the venue of a daily festival that occurs two hours before and after sunset.
And the results...
Note: If you don't get a response within two minutes, you may need to be more specific with your pickup and drop-off locations.
You'll notice that the applicable levels of Uber service (UberX, UberXL, etc.) are included with their price ranges, as well as currency rates that match the pickup and drop-off locations. There's also a link to Uber's website to help you book a ride.
