When and where you can purchase Google Home

The company's always-on personal assistant now has a price and a release date. Here's what you need to know.

Google's attempt to dethrone the Amazon Echo with the Google Home is under way: The smart speaker now has a price and a launch date.

The Google Home is $129, and will begin shipping on November 4. It's currently only available in the US, though for reference that price converts to about £100 or AU$170.

You can preorder Google Home right now from the Google Store. Best Buy, Target and Walmart will also begin offering preorders through their respective websites as of Tuesday, Google says. In-store availability will begin on November 4 as well.

Google Home allows you to give voice commands, ask questions, control smart home devices and play music or movies without touching a single device. Google is including a free six-month subscription to YouTube Red, the ad-free service, for those who purchase Home. You can read through our preview of Google Home here.
