Don't Buy an Amazon Echo Now Unless You Want Buyer's Remorse
Amazon's 2022 fall product event happens today, which makes it the worst time to add to your Alexa collection.
Have you been eyeing the fourth-gen Amazon Echo Dot for some time now? Or considering adding an Alexa device to every room? It's tempting, I know. But if you've waited this long, you might as well wait just a little longer to see what the fall Amazon product event has in store.
Just in time for the holiday season -- and perhaps in part to hype up a second Prime Day this year -- Amazon is set to introduce a collection of new devices Wednesday. Early rumors indicate a new Echo Dot and Echo Dot with Clock are potentially part of the mix, meaning a "new" Echo speaker purchased today could be instantly outdated.
It's yet to be revealed what design upgrades or enhanced features may come with the new Echo devices, but we'll keep you informed with full coverage of the event.
Will older Amazon Echo devices go on sale?
No promises, but probably. The fourth-gen Echo Dot, CNET's pick for best Amazon Alexa device, is currently available for $100, but we've seen older versions of Echo devices get major markdowns after Amazon events, especially on Cyber Monday.
It's likely the Amazon speaker you've had your eye on will be on sale in the next couple months -- or that an entirely new device will catch your eye for roughly the same current price as an older model. So again, wait to purchase that Amazon Echo speaker, because right now is the worst time to buy.
