The dining room table can be anything you want it to be. Sure, a dining room set with a table and four to six chairs may be an idealized version, but when it comes right down to it anywhere you set your plate can be called home. From folding TV stands to living room tables, food is often consumed wherever most comfortable. The same can be said about cooking it.

While most of us don't have the luxury of installing kitchen appliances in every room of the house, there exists another, more portable option. The Swissmar Fusion Table Grill ($150) changes the dynamic of any room simply by plugging it in (while remembering the food). Complete with a bamboo base and a white cooking surface, the cooking appliance offers attractive functionality without sacrificing convenience.

Designed for the social experience, the tabletop grill is roomy enough to accommodate six. Measuring 20 inches by 10 inches with a slightly slanted surface, juices are channeled away while cooking. The heat is controlled via a simple dial on an adjustable thermostat, meaning anyone at the table can easily work the cooker. Whether or not you want them to, of course depends on what they bring to the table.
