Frigidaire serves up gourmet-style kitchen hardware for less dough

Flaunting modern stainless steel construction and sturdy design, Frigidaire's re-tooled Professional appliance line is built to tempt the top chef crowd for less.

LAS VEGAS -- Like several appliance makers here at the KBIS 2015 show, Frigidaire acknowledges the allure of restaurant-inspired kitchen hardware. The company is refreshing its Professional line of home appliances with an eye towards simple, sturdy controls, physical knobs and dials, all crafted from durable stainless steel.

Spanning everything from a $1,599 free-standing range and a $1,099 dishwasher to a $3,199 French-door refrigerator, Frigidaire hopes to underscore that premium performance needn't always demand top dollar.

The first of Frigidaire's parade of new products is the Professional Free-Standing Range. Starting at $1,599 and climbing to $2,699, this cooktop and convection oven combo can be had in gas or electric models. The cooker will also come with a temperature probe for more precise baking. At 30 inches wide, the range is built to slide into tight quarters and countertop cutouts.

Also reasonably priced is the Professional Dishwasher, which Frigidaire boldly claims has the chops to clean dishes "in a quarter of the time," thanks to what it calls a PowerPlus 30-Minute Wash. You'll have to take that boast with a big grain of salt though, since this figure is based on comparing performance against previous Frigidaire dish cleansers.

One sizable slab of cooling machine is the Professional French Door Bottom Mount Refrigerator. Priced between $3,199 and $3,499, this fridge is definitely not what I'd call an impulse purchase. That said, Frigidaire does its darnedest to pack the ice box with enhanced abilities such as adjustable crisper bins, and shelves which you can flip up or slide under other sections to maximize storage space. There's also an internal air filtration system billed to be seven times better at whisking away odors than your average open box of baking soda.

If you're itching to get your hands on any of these new Frigidaire Professional creations, you won't have too long to bide your time. The appliance maker expects all of the above to ship in April and come clad in fingerprint-resistant stainless steel skins.
