Vonage decision due Tuesday

A federal judge's order barring the Minnesota's Public Utility Commission from regulating Internet phone provider Vonage is now expected out Tuesday. Federal District Court Judge Michael J. Davis issued his ruling earlier this week after a three-hour hearing. He said to expect a written explanation on Friday. Davis's office did not provide a reason for the delay.

For Internet phone providers, this means another few days' waiting and speculating about why Vonage had a more resounding victory than hoped for when it first filed its lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis. Vonage Chief Financial Officer John Rego said Vonage wanted a temporary injunction to give it time to figure out itsnext move. But Davis "made it permanent," Rego said.
