One plan for vividwireless home and mobile data
Vividwireless is combining home and mobile internet use on a single bill, offering a bundle including a fixed-line modem and a USB dongle.
Channel Seven's vividwireless today announced a new offer to combine home and mobile broadband usage on the same account, offering a bundle including two modems to share a data allowance on a single plan.
The Home and On the Go plan includes a home gateway fixed-line wireless modem and a USB modem with a choice of data allowances ranging from 12GB to 25GB per month. The device package costs AU$299 upfront, AU$149 on a 12-month plan or is free on a 24-month contract with all plans except the vividwireless unlimited data offerings. The launch of this new shared broadband plan follows moves from other Aussie telcos to offer a similar convenience to business customers only. Telstra, Vodafone and Optus all have options where businesses can distribute a combined monthly data allowance across multiple devices (usually up to five) and pay a single bill.
Locating local internet providers
Vividwireless is one of only four mobile broadband service providers using WiMax technology in Australia, with coverage in most Australian capital cities. Though by the nature of WiMax tech, this coverage can be patchy depending on the deployment of base stations. Theoretically, the vividwireless network is capable of delivering download speeds of up to 20Mbps, but the company advertises real-world speeds of between 3Mbps and 6Mbps.
