Zune MP3 - Questions on Battery Life & Charging

I am wondering if anyone else experienced a very short battery life when playing the videos. I loaded a couple of 'funnies' from friends and they seemed to suck the life from my new Zune. I question if this is because these 'funnies' are not in a format that Zune likes?

I also wondered about charging my Zune. It only seemed to charge when I had the Zune plugged into my laptop and the Zune program up and live. It didn't seem to charge when plugged into the computer and the computer was off but plugged into the wall outlet.

Any feedback? I'm a MP3 beginner, so maybe I'm just overlooking something.

But in general, you will get shorter battery life playing videos. For example, the 30GB Video iPod plays 14 hours of music and 3.5 hrs of video when fully charged. I imagine the Zune gets similar results. So if you're not starting off with a full charge you could get considerably less. And every time you access your hard drive - you search your player for single songs/videos rather than play from a playlist - that eats up some battery life as well. And if you're not using the wi-fi feature, keep it off. I heard that eats up a lot of battery life.

Hopefully someone with a Zune can tell you about charging. You may want to contact customer support. I just read a post from someone who had a great experience with Zune support.

That was ME who had the phenominal support from calling ZUNE live. There number is 1-877-438-9863. I would call first thing in the morning, when they open up their lines; they open at 6:00 am PST. When I called, there were only two other techs chatting with people (so Rebecca my tech told me). However, during the weekends and Christmas, their phones were so busy, no one got through.

The previous poster is right about the WIFI being shut off. It sucks the life out of a ZUNE and that's according to their own website. Unless your sharing files with another person, you don't need this battery drain.

I've had no problem charging my ZUNE to my computer even without the ZUNE page being pulled up. I don't have any other charger, yet, so I can't speak about any other form of charging.

Please give the number a call; they were out of this world and very eager to help. You might want to "grease the wheel" by telling your answering tech person that you heard they were great with customer support...it can't hurt!
