Is Flash really worth it?

Part of its non-adoption by device makers falls squarely on Adobe's lap. They have to get Flash coded such that it supports the various portable operating systems. Part of it is the device manufacturers' attitudes towards Flash itself. Apple doesn't support Flash for the iPhone or Touch. Android has yet to see Flash go public, though working examples have been shown by Adobe. Microsoft has its Silverlight alternative, and likely would LOVE to see that over a competitor's system on its own devices.

Plus Adobe has had persistent issues with security holes with Flash; which begs the question on whether this is something that you really want on your phone with its contacts and other personal data just ripe for the picking by a hacker. While the Zune HD isn't a phone, it's still a device that gets hooked up to your computer...cerainly if someone can get a malware payload onto to the Zune HD (or iPod Touch, for that matter) via Flash, then suddenly your computer becomes quite vulnerable.
