Zune

by apollo89 / June 4, 2008 3:31 AM PDT

So I know there are many jokes out there that no one owns a Zune, but it is actually the second best selling to the iPod even though there have been other competitors (Sandisk Sansa) in the market for longer. I have many friends who are seriously considering a switch to the Zune if their iPod is to break and I give them all the information for it.

To me, the Zune is just better. The interface is so much cooler, and more intuitive (i know, sounds weird seeing how it is Microsoft over Apple) and the audio is much better. It is also cheaper than the iPod.

I guess the pitfall would be the software, but it has gotten a lot better, and it isn't as bad as propagandist would have you believe. The Zune Marketplace doesn't have a lot of music in it, but there is Amazon Unbox. The Zune has some ways to go, especially with the awesomeness of the iPod Touch, but for what it is right now. It is a very very good alternative to the iPod.

So anyway, who out there has a Zune and loves it? And what do you love/like about it?

an ad wouldn't actually pop over your screen as your listening to music and watching content. they are none intrusive and are completely opt-in.

The version I saw long ago was too much like the Secretary of State in Idiocracy where every sentence uttered ended in "Brought to you by ..."

You see this already with videos you must watch to see the content at the various web sites. The version I saw was not optional and was tied to the content in ways you can't imagine. If you ever can go to such a presentation you will see they seem to be living under a rock.

The iPods work well but are so very limited they don't do a lot of things to begin with.

Zune is essentially the same.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
