zonealarm with norton internet security 04 and antivirus 05

by janice / July 21, 2006 9:21 AM PDT

I would like to switch to ZA as the norton internet security is expired [the antivirus is still current]. Can I use the two firewalls together and if not, can I switch norton from auto to manual load up so I can keep it on the PC with the updates I have if ZA creates issues with the antivirus. Jan

Uninstall Norton...

You really shouldn't try to run multiple firewalls at one time (can do more harm than good), and most firewalls will detect each other and refuse to install until the other one is removed.

That said, since the security suite has expired I'd run the uninstaller and simply remove it completely...it's of little use to you now. After that's complete, install ZoneAlarm firewall and, if necessary, reinstall Norton Antivirus 2005. Don't forget to keep a spyware scanner on-board, such as Windows Defender or Ewido, both of which are free.

Hope this helps,
John

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
