ZoneAlarm 7.1.248 Settings??

by glenn30 / March 26, 2008 11:48 PM PDT

This is the newest version update for ZoneAlarm Free which does not seem to perform well with Vista... I have been unable to have these features work from the beginning using Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate. Wondering if someone can compare settings or offer suggestions. The following is a brief overview of what I have and see:

Overview Tab
Status - Always shows "Zero" Intrusions and "Zero" intrusions - "Zero" have been High Rated. This cannot be accurate.

Product Info - Registration is always shown as pending...
although I checked to register when installed.

Firewall Tab
Main - Internet Zone is set to "High"
_ Trusted Zone Security is set to "Medium"

Anti-virus Monitoring Tab
When set "On" it does not recognize AVG so I now have that feature set to "Off"

Wondering if anyone sees anything wrong with these settings or can recommend other changes that will correct these.

My system is:
HP Pavilion a1748x
3GB Memory
Vista Ultimate
Firefox (Primary browser)

Thanks in advance... I realize this may also be caused by some Vista setting but I know not where to begin looking.

Hi Glenn, On your first question...
by Larry38 / March 27, 2008 3:22 AM PDT

status reading zero. Mine are showing the same. Do you have a router? I am running behind my ISP router, and apparently the router is stopping any intrusions, that is the only reason I can think of.

I don't have Vista yet so not certain how ZA works on it.

I have no router... as I indicated since Vista came ZoneAlarm has never done the things mentioned correctly. I suppose it is blocking intrusions but continues to say "The firewall has blocked 0 attempts"... I know that cannot be true. I am hoping someone here is using ZA with Vista and can offer some help. Surely I am not the only one having this issue. It may be my Vista security is set too high but I know not what to do there. I visited the ZA forums but they are so hard to negotiate and a bit unorganized. I found nothing that came close to the problem.

Thanks for the response... maybe someone will see and reply. By-the-way wish I did have a router. Coming in October our local utility board will come online with a new fiber optics network offering Internet, telephone and cable TV service. Looking forward to this... I suppose a router will be part of the install.
