Zone Alarm Firewall & Pro

by xcks / April 1, 2004 11:25 AM PST

I have ZA free version and after a period of time it eventually ask if I would like to try to "Pro" version for 15 days free. The first 6-8 times? <-(guessing)I would start the machine, naturally it pestered me about purchase, and as near as I can tell it still is but in a different way. Instead of just starting I have to awnser if I wish to continue useing pro or disable it. (if disabled must restart from the start menu) I am pretty sure it has been more than 15 days and if it hasnt, I wish the ___ it was past 15 days. How to I fix this? Im thinking of an uninstall/remove and having another downloaded Zone Alarm waiting to take its place.
Why? 1st and foremost because everytime I start my computer immediatelly my connection starts up. I cant figure out what is starting my connection. After it starts a ctrl alt delete viewing the "applications" tab nothing is there. If I open "Code stuff starter" Im not real sure what all I am viewing, but I believe I was fine with everything till I told ZA Pro to just automatic let what it knows to be safe to run its course. Now its getting on my nerves and I dont always want on the internet when my pc is on and like I said I have no idea what does.
How do I fix this? I "did" have ZA reg version like I wanted it, I cant imagine what pro is doing different as far as programs starting. Thanks!

uninstalling it wont help. thes kind of programs leave behind info that tells windows that the time limit is expired. you could uninstall it and use sygate firewall (free version) i havent heard of this with sygate.

I uninstalled Zone Alarm using Control Panel, did "SEARCH" and deleted all references to Zone Alarm in Explorer, did Registry search using RegEdit, deleted all references to Zone Alarm, did a fresh download of Zone Alarm basic, and it installed without any problems.
