Zip Code for InfoLink on my Samsung LN52A650

Nov 23, 2008 11:44AM PST

I have hard wired an Ethernet cable to my new LN52A650 and have been enjoying USA Today news stories, but have not been able to find a valid zip code for my region for the weather feature.

Does Samsung / USA Today have a list of valid zip codes for most regions in the US? I could really use the list, so I don't get bothered by the Invalid Zip Code prompt every time I use InfoLink...

Thanx in Advance

If I may, would you post your zip code so that I can have our engineers take a look?

Zip Code for InfoLink
Nov 23, 2008 10:54PM PST

Absolutely......

The Zip Codes that I'd like to use are 48134 (Brownstown) or 48138 (Grosse Ile), both in South Eastern Michigan.

Thanx for quickly looking into this.

I actually pulled up a list of the hundreds of zip codes in my area, entered each of them in, and was unable to find one that would work for my region.

Michigan
Nov 24, 2008 5:00AM PST

I talked to our call center, and they have received several calls regarding the feeds not being made available. I will recommend the appropriate contact from Samsung get in touch with USA Today. Michigan as a whole is not receiving this information for some reason. I will send up a report and see if we can't get this issue resolved.

I apologize for the inconvenience. The InfoLink hardware itself is working (which is the good news), but the feeds are not being made available, and as a result, the information is not available.

A few?
Dec 17, 2008 6:15AM PST

Would you list a few of the zip codes that don't work?

I'll try and replicate that in our service department.

I'll say this ahead of time, it ultimatey up to the provider (USA Today, weather.com) to provide those for each region; unfortunately, we can report it, but fixing these issues is up to them.

Unable to Obtain Zip Codes
Dec 17, 2008 9:46AM PST

It is unfortunate that Samsung has chosen to partner with USA Today and they are both unable to work together and provide service for their feature. It sounds like a request has been made, but no response has been given. Samsung need to be a bit more aggressive with USA Today (or weather.com) to resolve the zip code issue.

Are there any customers out there that can actually able to get the so called weather feature to work at all for their region?

This experience will certainly make me consider other manufacturers the next time I am in the market for a new TV.

Known issue
Dec 18, 2008 4:22AM PST

At this point, there are two known issues with coverage.

We know that some zip codes in Michigan don't get coverage, as well as Florida. We have requested this be addressed, but again, we don't have control over the available information.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but please understand that while we offer the unique capabilities on our televisions, we don't control the content of our partners at USA Today any more than we control what shows are available through our network partners on the television.

re: incorrect zip code information..
Feb 19, 2009 1:31PM PST

USA today is aware of the issue. If you go to their website and use the "contact us" option to report your issue, a Tech from USA Today will follow-up with you within 2-3 days. I had the same issue and I was contacted within 3 days of sending my issue to them and they were able to correct it. Hope this helps.
