Question

Zero key not working

May 11, 2017 8:17AM PDT

I have a desktop running Windows 7 that the zero key stopped working on. This is the zero key that is in the main keyboard and not the number pad. The “Shift” + “0” key does produce &ldquoWink” I have tried three different keyboards (all the same brand and type) with the same results. I have seen many posts using the FN key to correct this but this is a desktop and does not have that key. I started my computer in safemode and still had the issue. I started the computer going straight to the bios and the zero key does work there.

If it works in the BIOS there's a good chance it works:
- in Windows if you boot into Safe Mode
- in Linux (free to download and boot from)
- in Windows after you do a clean install of Windows or go back to factory conditions

Look in device manager.
If the keyboard is a generic unit the driver should come from msft.
Uninstall the driver and reboot.
