Zen Xtra

Aug 11, 2005 8:30AM PDT

Hello,

Now that the smaller Sleek and Neon models are on the way and the Micro has already established itself, the Zen Xtra can be had at a substantial discount. Any comments on this older 'large' model? With 30gb and a replaceable battery, it seems to have good features.

Thanks
MJW

Loved the Xtra

I bought my Creative Zen Xtra a few months ago but had to return it within 2 weeks because the store I bought it from- won't mention its name but it starts with a Z and ends with ellers- could not produce the $50 off rebate form it had advertised. I was also nervous about the whole headphone jack problem which was reported by a large number of users.

No worries though. I recently bought a m:robe 100 and love it although I do miss all the extra features offered on Zen Xtra

How long have you had the product? have the headphone jack problems come up yet? I've heard that the new, non-defective players come in a product package that has a transparent window so that the player inside is visible. is that the one you have?

Xtra

I'm not sure whether this question was directed at me but I no longer have the Zen Xtra. I returned it because the $50 rebate form which was promised by the store never arrived and everytime I tried to contact the store to find out when the forms would be arriving I kept getting the run around so I decided to return the player. Too bad though because I really liked the device -although it was rather heavy- but without the rebate the price would have tipped the $300 mark.

Mine did not come in a clear package. The case was really convenient although the headphones weren't the best and I was always afraid off dropping it or twisting the headphone jack.

For the price I would recommend getting it but caution that if the store advertises a $50 mail-in rebate you should ensure that you leave with form in-hand and not trust them if they promise to ''contact you when it comes in''. I am perfectly pleased with my Olympus m:robe though and would also recommend it
