Zen Vision M won't turn on even using the Creative charger

May 25, 2007 2:36PM PDT

Please help!

I got a Zen Vision M and it didn't charge with the USB. Then I tried to use a wall charger, and it looked like it was charging but it never stopped charging. After that, I bought the Creative charger from their site and the same as before, when the device is plugged works but when it is unpluged it turns off.

I even connected it to the computer through the USB cable and everything went perfect with the software, but as soon as I unpluged it from the charger it turned off once again.

I left it charging non stop for 4 whole days and as it didn't stand alone, I returned it to Amazon and asked for a new one.
I have the new one, and the same thing is happening!! It charges and charges and never stands alone.

As I previously had a Zen Micro, I tested the charger and the plug with it and charges completely in no time.

What could be the problem then? Am I so unlucky that the second Zen Vision M is also not working and I should return it again or what is something else I'm doing wrong??

Thanks a lot in advance!!

Zen Vision M won't charge...

I think most of the Visions ship with some kind of plastic battery protector. Open the battery compartment and remove the piece of plastic.

the battery on the Zen Vision M isn't user removable/replaceable, so it's probably not that.

A possible fix for the Zen not charging
Jun 6, 2007 4:07AM PDT

I just got a Zen Vision M myself. I also have the adapter. I plugged it into charge and it turned on, but didn't appear to be charging. I left it overnight and it still wasn't charged. I looked at the Creative web site and found the solution.

:obj(26702)">http://193.95.171.83/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=377,E=0000000000232093126,K=4917,Sxi=19,Answer26698=obj(2669Cool:obj(26702)

I looked for "battery not charging" and they suggested downloading the latest firmware. So I attached the Zen to the adapter and to the PC. It took a minute for it to recognize it. Then I installed the firmware. It warned me that the battery was low, but I told it to go ahead, and it did go through with the update.

As noted in the knowledgebase article, it immediately went into charging mode. I now have my Zen charging. Hopefully everything will work the way it should now. I have my fingers crossed.

Uploaded the most recent firmware - player began to charge for the first time since I got it.
I will post back later if it did not charge successfully; but looking good so far.
