Z100P2 Iomega Parallel Port drive not showing on My Computer

Aug 31, 2010 1:43PM PDT

I have a Z100P2 Iomega Parallel Port Zip drive and since my laptop does not have a parallel port connection (DB25 cable), I bought a DB25 to USB. I downloaded drivers ioware-w32-x86-402.exe and iodrv-w2kxp-x86-403.exe but neither show a drive on "my computer".

Why is there not a drive showing? Thanks.

I've yet to see that work.

It's been some 10+ years and I have yet to see any USB to Parallel adapter work with a Zip drive.

Let's say there is no such adapter. This is why I scared up an USB Zip drive to get the files off the media the last few times.

Or you can use that on your old machine and transfer to some memory stick or other media.

I got one at Microcenter yesterday. From what I'm been reading so far, it seems that it's not the cable but the driver for that zip drive that is not compatible with WinXP...

To top it off, I've yet to find a driver that works in that setup. Maybe someday someone will create such but I can't wait for that. This is why I found another ZIP drive that I could install and get the files out.

What's not fun is to run into that curmudgeon that can't let go of their ZIP drive and media. I know we paid a lot for that back them but last week a 4GB flash drive was under 9.99 which was less than what I paid for that first 100MB Zip media!

Time to move on I say.
