Your experience with laptop drives?

In the last few years I have had four laptops. All from differents labels (IBM, Dell etc.). Currently I have an Alienware mobile system that I have just replaced the system HD on (config with two drives). Luckely within the warrenty and without loss of data.
But I have only once experience a laptop that was running without any HD problems. And that I brought second hand. Maybe the former owner already had a HD replacement before I got it
I have never experienced a HD failure on my workstations. Maybe I should start moving them arount
