AT&T will give 200,000 US employees $1,000 bonus once Trump signs tax cuts into law

"Today, Congress approved legislation representing the first comprehensive tax reform in a generation," the company said in a statement released Wednesday afternoon.

"Once tax reform is signed into law, AT&T plans to invest an additional $1 billion in the United States in 2018 and pay a special $1,000 bonus to more than 200,000 AT&T U.S. employees — all union-represented, non-management and front-line managers. If the president signs the bill before Christmas, employees will receive the bonus over the holidays," AT&T added.

However, the move comes more than one month after the company announced its intentions to merge with Time Warner. The Trump administration responded with a lawsuit to keep both entities from joining in the $85 billion deal.

So, will TheRUMP have the "lawsuit" dropped?

Financial blackmail?

...and their employees. So, I'm leaving it there for now since nothing else has presented itself in regard to something good for the employees.

"good move"

To accomplish what?

To get the lawsuit dropped by paying out $200 Million dollars?

As a PR "move"?...Look at us giving a bonus?

Given that when 2 large corporations "merge"....heads usually roll....It is possible the "bonus" is also a "parting gift" for some......

AT&T lays off DirecTV workers despite pledge to create jobs

December 18, 2017 AT&T chief executive Randall Stephenson may be promising to create jobs if tax reform is passed — but that apparently doesn’t mean there won’t be job cuts on the way to payroll growth.

The telecom giant, whose DirecTV unit makes it the largest pay TV operator in the country, last week pink-slipped more than 700 DirecTV home installers, one laid-off worker told The Post.

AT&T plans to lay off nearly 300 at center in Dallas next year

Dec 20, 2017

Shortly after Valentine's Day next year Dallas-based AT&T plans to begin "restructuring" early next year at a center in Dallas that will impact 300 workers.

The announcement came from the Texas Workforce Commission on Wednesday, the same day the telecom giant announced that, thanks to the passage of the GOP tax plan, it is giving the majority of its employees in the United States a $1,000 bonus.
