Question

"You must use administrative privileges to complete uninstal

Sep 5, 2013 7:59AM PDT

I am trying to Uninstall some old junk. Everything is uninstalling fine except one program. When I try to uninstall I get the message asking if I want to allow the program to make changes to my hard drive. When I click "No" I get the following message: "You must use administrative privileges to complete uninstall, please try again."
So what does this mean, and how do I use these administrative privileges? By the way, I am the administrator. Thanks

No way to change settings?

Really? If I do, and it's some cheesy program from a company I don't trust, aren't I kinda inviting trouble? I figured I could change security settings or something to make me authorized to uninstall without letting this company's crappy game program mess with my computer. BTW, it's Winows 8.

to complete the uninstall process

I've always had to click yes . Maybe it's different on Windows 8 in which case I'll bow out and defer to a Win 8 user....Digger

Then there is the old fashioned manual removal. We delete the folder the app is in, stop any services it installed and then any stray icons or menu items.

Why not the old fashioned uninstall?
