YOU CAN STOP MINDLESSLY BLAMING THE OIL COMPANIES NOW

May 18, 2006 11:26PM PDT

Yesterday the House of Representatives had an opportunity to take a huge step toward American energy independence. They faltered. Our great representatives rejected an amendment to an Interior Department bill that would have ended the absurd ban we have on drilling for natural gas and oil off about 85% of the costal waters of the United States. This, of course, includes California and Florida. The vote wasn't even close. They couldn't even agree to allow drilling just for natural gas! In case you went to government schools, please allow me to explain that there is no such thing as a natural gas spill. There is no way that natural gas could wash up on the shores of the Florida Gulf Coast or California and ruin any tourist's day in the sun.

So .. the more mindless among you can continue with your mass hysteria against the oil companies. Those of you actually capable of rational thought can start to wonder just why it is these people in Washington seem so hell-bent on maintaining America's dependence on foreign energy sources.

well put if you really think about it.

plus it burns fairly clean. nukers also if they can get rid ot the spent fuel. I live within the 'kill zone' of one of the oldest. it does kill about 20,000,000 fish a year. those are their figures not mine. the rods are buried on site. what does france do? oil rigs seem to be messy. I lived in santa barbara years ago. beautiful bay, the offshore rigs were an eyesore plus black gunk used to wash onto the beach. we called them sea turds, they were tarlike. if the rigs are visible (wind, oil, ng) the coastal folks don't want 'em. that's the rich and the poor. and i don't support anwr drilling, not because of enviro impact but that the legislation will open the doors to all pristine wilderness. those areas are treasures that in time will be more intrinsically valuable. so I say drill crawford.
